Soohee, First Mehl, Ninth House: One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru: The color of safflower is transitory; it lasts for only a few days. Without the Name, the false woman is deluded by doubt and plundered by thieves. But those who are attuned to the True Lord, are not reincarnated again. ||1|| How can one who is already dyed in the color of the Lord’s Love, be colored any other color? So serve God the Dyer, and focus your consciousness on the True Lord. ||1||Pause||
राग सूही, घर ९ में गुरु नानकदेव जी की बाणी। अकाल पुरख एक है और सतगुरु की कृपा द्वारा मिलता है। (जिव माया के सुंदरपण को देख देख कर फूलता है, परन्तु यह माया का साथ कुसंभे के रंग जैसा ही है) कुसंभे के फूल का रंग कच्चा होता है, थोड़े समय ही रहता है, चार दिन ही ठहरता है। माया की व्यपारी जिव-स्त्री प्रभु-नाम से दूर हो के (माया-कुसंभे के) भ्रम में कुराहे आ जाती है, ठगी जाती है , और इस का आत्मिक जीवन (का सरमाया) लुट जाता है। हे भाई! अगर सदा-थिर प्रभु के प्यार-रंग में रंगे जाएं, तो बार बार जन्म (का चक्र) ख़तम हो जाता है।१। हे भाई! जो मनुख परमात्मा का प्रेम-रंग लगा कर रंगे जाता हैं उनके रंगे हुए मन को किसी और रंग की जरुरत नहीं रह जाती (नाम में रंगे को) किसी और कर्म-सुहज की जरुरत नहीं रहती। (पर यह नाम-रंग परमात्मा खुद ही देता है, सो) उस सदा-थिर रहने वाले को और (जीवों के मन को अपने प्रेम रंग से) रंगने वाले प्रभु को सच्चे मन से सुमिरन करना चाहिये।१।रहाउ।

His Lotus Feet are the Support of the mind, the Support of the very breath of life. ||1||Pause|| In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the cycle of birth and death is ended. To hear the Ambrosial Sermon is the support of my ears. ||2||
हे भाई! गुरु की शब्द के द्वारा मैं अपने ह्रदय में परमात्मा का ध्यान धर्ता हूँ, और अपने जिव्हा से परमात्मा (के नाम) का जाप जपता हूँ।१। हे भाई! गुरु की हस्ती मनुख जीवन का फल देने वाली है। मैं (गुरु के) दर्शन करका सदके जाता हूँ। गुरु के कोमल चरणों को मैं अपने मन का जीवन का सहारा बनाता हूँ।१।रहाउ। हे भाई! गुरु की संगत में (रह कर) मैं जनम मरण का चक्र ख़तम कर लिया है, और आत्मिक जीवन देने वाली सिफत सलाह कानो से सुन के ( इस को अपने जीवन का) सहारा बना रहा हूँ।२।

Dhanaasaree, First Mehl: My soul burns, over and over again. Burning and burning, it is ruined, and it falls into evil. That body, which forgets the Word of the Guru’s Bani, cries out in pain, like a chronic patient. ||1|| To speak too much and babble is useless. Even without our speaking, He knows everything. ||1||Pause|| He created our ears, eyes and nose. He gave us our tongue to speak so fluently. He preserved the mind in the fire of the womb; at His Command, the wind blows everywhere. ||2||
अर्थ :- (सिफत सलाह की बानी विसरने से) जींद बार बार दुखी होती है, दुखी हो हो कर (फिर) और और विकारों में परेशान होती है। जिस सरीर में (भाव, जिस मनुख को) परभू की सिफत- सलाह के बाणी भूल जाती है, वह सदा विलाप में रहता है जैसे कोई कोड़ी मनुख।१। (सुमिरन से खाली रहने के कारण हम जो दुःख खुद बुला लेते है) उनके बारे में गिला-शिकवा करना व्यर्थ है, क्योंकि परमात्मा हमारे गिला करने के बिना ही (हमारे सारे रोगों का) कारण जानता है।१।रहाउ। (दुखों से बचने के लिए उस परभू का सिमरन करना चाहिए) जिस ने कान दिए, आँखे दी, नाक दिया, जिस ने जिव्हा दी जो जल्दी जल्दी बोलती है, जिस ने हमारे सरीर पर कृपा कर के जीवन को (सरीर में) टिका दिया, (जिस की कला से सरीर में) श्वास चलता है और मनुख हर जगह (चल -फिर और बोल चाल कर सकता है।२।

By The Grace Of The True Guru: The Jewel of the Lord’s Name abides within my heart; the Guru has placed His hand on my forehead. The sins and pains of countless incarnations have been cast out. The Guru has blessed me with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, and my debt has been paid off. ||1|| O my mind, vibrate the Lord’s Name, and all your affairs shall be resolved. The Perfect Guru has implanted the Lord’s Name within me; without the Name, life is useless. ||Pause|| Without the Guru, the self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant; they are forever entangled in emotional attachment to Maya. They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. ||2||
राग जैतसरी, घर १ में गुरु रामदास जी की चार-बन्दों वाली बाणी। अकाल पुरख एक है और सतगुरु की कृपा द्वारा मिलता है। (हे भाई! जब) गुरु ने मेरे सिर ऊपर अपना हाथ रखा, तो मेरे हिर्दय में परमात्मा का रतन (जैसा कीमती) नाम आ बसा। (हे भाई! जिस भी मनुख को) गुरु ने परमात्मा का नाम दिया, उस के अनकों जन्मों के पाप दुःख दूर हो गए, (उस के सिर से पापों का कर्ज) उतर गया।१। हे मेरे मन! (सदा) परमात्मा का नाम सुमिरन कर, (परमात्मा) सरे पदार्थ (देने वाला है)। (हे मन! गुरु की सरन में ही रह) पूरे गुरु ने (ही) परमात्मा का नाम (ह्रदय में) पक्का किया है। और, नाम के बिना मनुख जीवन व्यर्थ चला जाता है।रहाउ। हे भाई! जो मनुख अपने मन के पीछे चलते है वह गुरु ( की सरन) के बिना मुर्ख हुए रहते हैं, वह सदा माया के मोह में फसे रहते है। उन्होंने कभी भी गुरु का सहारा नहीं लिया, उनका सारा जीवन व्यर्थ चला जाता है।२।

He fashioned the soul and the body, O Siblings of Destiny, by His own power. How can He be described? How can He be seen, O Siblings of Destiny? The Creator is One; He is indescribable. Praise the Guru, the Lord of the Universe, O Siblings of Destiny; through Him, the essence is known. ||1|| O my mind, meditate on the Lord, the Lord God. He blesses His servant with the gift of the Naam; He is the Destroyer of pain and suffering. ||Pause||
सोरठि महला ५ घरु १ असटपदीआ :राग सोरठि, घर १ में गुरु अर्जनदेव जी की आठ बन्दों वाली बाणी। अकाल पुरख एक है और सतगुरु की कृपा द्वारा मिलता है। हे भाई! जिस परमात्मा ने आप ही सारा जगत पैदा किया है, जो सरे जगत का मूल है, जो सारी ताकतों का मालिक है, जिस ने अपनी ताकत दे कर (मनुख की) जान और सरीर पैदा किया है, वह करतार (तो) किसी भी तरह बयां नहीं किया जा सकता। हे भाई! उस करतार का सवरूप बताया नहीं जा सकता। उस को कैसे देखा जाये? हे भाई! गोबिंद के रूप गुरु की सिफत करनी चाहिये, क्योंकि गुरु से ही सरे जगत के मूल की सूझ पाई जा सकती है॥१॥ हे मेरे मन! (सदा) हरी परमात्मा का नाम जपना चाहिए। वह भगवन अपने सेवक को अपने नाम की दात देता है। वह सारे दुःख और पीड़ा का नास करने वाला है॥रहाउ॥

Wadahans, First Mehl, Chhant: One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru Why bother to wash the body, polluted by falsehood ? One’s cleansing bath is only approved, if he practices Truth. When there is Truth within the heart, then one becomes True, and obtains the True Lord. Without pre-ordained destiny, understanding is not attained; talking and babbling, one wastes his life away. Wherever you go and sit, speak well, and write the Word of the Shabad in your consciousness. Why bother to wash the body which is polluted by falsehood? ||1|| When I have spoken, I spoke as You made me speak. The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is pleasing to my mind. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, seems so sweet to my mind; it has destroyed the dwelling of pain. Peace came to dwell in my mind, when You gave the Order. It is Yours to bestow Your Grace, and it is mine to speak this prayer; You created Yourself. When I have spoken, I spoke as You made me speak. ||2||
राग वडहंस में गुरु नानक देव जी की बाणी ‘छंत’। अकाल पुरख एक है और सतगुरु की कृपा द्वारा मिलता है। शरीर (हृदय) को माया के मोह में गंदा करके (तीर्थ) स्नान करने का कोई लाभ नहीं है। केवल उस मनुख का स्नान कबूल है जो सदा-थिर प्रभु-नाम सिमरन की कमाई करता है। जब सदा-थिर प्रभु हृदय में आ बसता है तब सदा-थिर रहने वाला परमात्मा मिलता है। पर प्रभु के हुकम के बिना सोच ऊँची नहीं हो सकती, सिर्फ जुबान से (ज्ञान की) बाते करना व्यर्थ है। जहाँ भी जा कर बैठे, प्रभु की सिफत-सलाह करें तो अपनी सुरत में प्रभु की सिफत-सलाह की बाणी पिरोंयें। (नहीं तो) हृदय को माया के मोह में गंदा कर के (तीरथ) स्नान क्या लाभ? ॥੧॥ (प्रभु) मैं तब ही सिफत-सलाह कर सकता हूँ जब तूँ खुद प्रेरणा करता है। प्रभु का आत्मक जीवन देने वाला नाम मेरा मन में प्यारा लग सकता है। जब प्रभु का नाम मन में मीठा लगने लग गया तो समझो की दुखों ने अपना डेरा उठा लिया। (हे प्रभु) जब तुने हुकम किया तब मेरे मन में आत्मिक आनंद आ बसता है। हे प्रभु, जिस ने अपने आप ही जगत पैदा किया है, जब तूँ मुझे प्रेरणा करता है, तब ही में तेरी सिफत-सलाह कर सकता हू। मेरी तो तेरे दर पर अरजोई ही होती है,कृपा की नजर तो तूँ आप ही करता है॥२॥
