ਥਾਪਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕੀਤਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Thāpiā na jāe kīṯā na hoe.
He cannot be established, He cannot be created.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Āpe āp niranjan soe.
He Himself is Immaculate and Pure.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Jin seviā ṯin pāiā mān.
Those who serve Him are honored.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਵੀਐ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
Nānak gāvīai guṇī niḏẖān.
O Nanak, sing of the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence.
ਗਾਵੀਐ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਮਨਿ ਰਖੀਐ ਭਾਉ ॥
Gāvīai suṇīai man rakẖīai bẖāo.
Sing, and listen, and let your mind be filled with love.
ਦੁਖੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਘਰਿ ਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ḏukẖ parhar sukẖ gẖar lai jāe.
Your pain shall be sent far away, and peace shall come to your home.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਦੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਦੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
Gurmukẖ nāḏaʼn gurmukẖ veḏaʼn gurmukẖ rahiā samāī.
The Guru’s Word is the Sound-current of the Naad; the Guru’s Word is the Wisdom of the Vedas; the Guru’s Word is all-pervading.
ਗੁਰੁ ਈਸਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਬਰਮਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬਤੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
Gur īsar gur gorakẖ barmā gur pārbaṯī māī.
The Guru is Shiva, the Guru is Vishnu and Brahma; the Guru is Paarvati and Lakhshmi.
ਜੇ ਹਉ ਜਾਣਾ ਆਖਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Je hao jāṇā ākẖā nāhī kahṇā kathan na jāī.
Even knowing God, I cannot describe Him; He cannot be described in words.
ਗੁਰਾ ਇਕ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
Gurā ik ḏehi bujẖāī.
The Guru has given me this one understanding:
ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਮੈ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੫॥
Sabẖnā jīā kā ik ḏāṯā so mai visar na jāī. ||5||
there is only the One, the Giver of all souls. May I never forget Him!
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਇ ਭਾਖਿਆ ਭਾਉ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥
Sācẖā sāhib sācẖ nāe bẖākẖiā bẖāo apār.
True is the Master, True is His Name-speak it with infinite love.
ਆਖਹਿ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
Ākẖahi mangahi ḏehi ḏehi ḏāṯ kare ḏāṯār.
People beg and pray, “Give to us, give to us”, and the Great Giver gives His Gifts.
ਫੇਰਿ ਕਿ ਅਗੈ ਰਖੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਸੈ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
Fer kė agai rakẖīai jiṯ ḏisai ḏarbār.
So what offering can we place before Him, by which we might see the Darbaar of His Court?
ਮੁਹੌ ਕਿ ਬੋਲਣੁ ਬੋਲੀਐ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Muhou kė bolaṇ bolīai jiṯ suṇ ḏẖare piār.
What words can we speak to evoke His Love?
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਉ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Amriṯ velā sacẖ nāo vadiāī vīcẖār.
In the Amrit Vaylaa, the ambrosial hours before dawn, chant the True Name, and contemplate His Glorious Greatness.
ਕਰਮੀ ਆਵੈ ਕਪੜਾ ਨਦਰੀ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Karmī āvai kapṛā naḏrī mokẖ ḏuār.
By the karma of past actions, the robe of this physical body is obtained. By His Grace, the Gate of Liberation is found
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥੪॥
Nānak evai jāṇīai sabẖ āpe sacẖiār. ||4||
O Nanak, know this well: the True One Himself is All.
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਆਕਾਰ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
Hukmī hovan ākār hukam na kahiā jāī.
By His Command, bodies are created; His Command cannot be described.
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਜੀਅ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Hukmī hovan jīa hukam milai vadiāī.
By His Command, souls come into being; by His Command, glory and greatness are obtained.
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ॥
Hukmī uṯam nīcẖ hukam likẖ ḏukẖ sukẖ pāīah.
By His Command, some are high and some are low; by His Written Command, pain and pleasure are obtained.
ਇਕਨਾ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬਖਸੀਸ ਇਕਿ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਸਦਾ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ॥
Iknā hukmī bakẖsīs ik hukmī saḏā bẖavāīah.
Some, by His Command, are blessed and forgiven; others, by His Command, wander aimlessly forever.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹੁਕਮ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Hukmai anḏar sabẖ ko bāhar hukam na koe.
Everyone is subject to His Command; no one is beyond His Command.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹੁਕਮੈ ਜੇ ਬੁਝੈ ਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Nānak hukmai je bujẖai ṯa haumai kahai na koe. ||2||
O Nanak, one who understands His Command, does not speak in ego.
ਸੋਚੈ ਸੋਚਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਸੋਚੀ ਲਖ ਵਾਰ ॥jjj
Sochai Soch N Hovee Jae Sochee Lakh Vaar ||
By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times.
ਚੁਪੈ ਚੁਪ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੇ ਲਾਇ ਰਹਾ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥
Chupai Chup N Hovee Jae Laae Rehaa Liv Thaar ||
By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within.
ਭੁਖਿਆ ਭੁਖ ਨ ਉਤਰੀ ਜੇ ਬੰਨਾ ਪੁਰੀਆ ਭਾਰ ॥
Bhukhiaa Bhukh N Outharee Jae Bannaa Pureeaa Bhaar ||
The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਲਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਤ ਇਕ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
Sehas Siaanapaa Lakh Hohi Th Eik N Chalai Naal ||
Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end.
ਕਿਵ ਸਚਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਈਐ ਕਿਵ ਕੂੜੈ ਤੁਟੈ ਪਾਲਿ ॥
Kiv Sachiaaraa Hoeeai Kiv Koorrai Thuttai Paal ||
So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away?
ਹੁਕਮਿ ਰਜਾਈ ਚਲਣਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਨਾਲਿ ॥੧॥

ਆਖਹਿ ਮੰਗਹਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥ Ākẖahi mangahi ḏehi ḏehi ḏāṯ kare ḏāṯār. People beg and pray, “Give to us, give to us”, and the Great Giver gives His Gifts.

— INSIGHT — Our Outer World is a reflection of our Inner world. We can attain and accumulate a lot of wealth but still feel void inside us. This mantra guides us towards the path to attain that inner abundance, inner wealth and prosperity. Only when we connect to that creator, that source of all the creation and understand that we are all one and connected, and nothing outside is permanent, nothing which is created in time is permanent, we stop that search for prosperity in the outside world and start looking inside us. And how can we start our journey towards this path of inner prosperity. By Meditating during the Amrit Vela( Amrit Vela is referred to early hours in the morning, around 3:30Am to 5AM) . During this time, the meditation is most fruitful.
धनासरी महला १ ॥ सहजि मिलै मिलिआ परवाणु ॥ ना तिसु मरणु न आवणु जाणु ॥ ठाकुर महि दासु दास महि सोइ ॥ जह देखा तह अवरु न कोइ ॥१॥ गुरमुखि भगति सहज घरु पाईऐ ॥ बिनु गुर भेटे मरि आईऐ जाईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ सो गुरु करउ जि साचु द्रिड़ावै ॥ अकथु कथावै सबदि मिलावै ॥ हरि के लोग अवर नही कारा ॥ साचउ ठाकुरु साचु पिआरा ॥२॥
Dhanaasaree, First Mehl: That union with the Lord is acceptable, which is united in intuitive poise. Thereafter, one does not die, and does not come and go in reincarnation. The Lord’s slave is in the Lord, and the Lord is in His slave. Wherever I look, I see none other than the Lord. ||1|| The Gurmukhs worship the Lord, and find His celestial home. Without meeting the Guru, they die, and come and go in reincarnation. ||1||Pause|| So make Him your Guru, who implants the Truth within you, who leads you to speak the Unspoken Speech, and who merges you in the Word of the Shabad. God’s people have no other work to do; they love the True Lord and Master, and they love the Truth. ||2||
जो मनुख गुरु के द्वारा अडोल अवस्था में रह के प्रभु के चरणों में जुड़ता है, उस का प्रभु चरणों में जुड़ना काबुल होता है। उस मनुख को न आत्मिक मौत्त आती है, न ही जनम मरण। ऐसा प्रभु का दास प्रभु में लीन रहता है, प्रभु इस प्रकार के सेवक में प्रकट हो जाता है। वह सेवक जिधर देखता है उस को परमातम के बिना और कोई नहीं दीखता है। गुरु की सरन आ के परमात्मा की भक्ति करके वह (आत्मिक) टिकाना मिल जाता है जहाँ मन सदा अडोल अवस्था में टिका रहता है। (परन्तु) गुरु को मिलने के बिना आत्मिक मौत मर कर, जनम-मरण के चक्र में फसा रहता है।१।रहाउ। मैं (भी) वोही गुरु धारण करना कहता हूँ जो सदा-थिर प्रभु को (मेरे हृदय में) पक्की तरह टिका दे, जो मुझसे अकथ गुरु की सिफत-सलाह करावे, और अपने शब्द के द्वारा मुझे प्रभु-चरणों में जोड़ दे। परमात्मा के भगत को (सिफत-सलाह के बिना) कोई और कार नहीं (सूझती)। भगत सदा-थिर प्रभु के ही याद करता है, सदा-थिर प्रभु उस को प्यारा लगता है।२।

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਦਾਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥ Gāvai ko ḏāṯ jāṇai nīsāṇ. Some sing of His Gifts, and know His Sign and Insignia.
ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਗੁਣ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਚਾਰ ॥ Gāvai ko guṇ vaḏiāīā cẖār. Some sing of His Glorious Virtues, Greatness and Beauty.

ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਸਾਜਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਨੁ ਖੇਹ ॥ Gāvai ko sāj kare ṯan kẖeh. Some sing that He fashions the body, and then again reduces it to dust.
ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਜੀਅ ਲੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਹ ॥ Gāvai ko jī▫a lai fir ḏeh. Some sing that He takes life away, and then again restores it.
ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਦਿਸੈ ਦੂਰਿ ॥ Gāvai ko jāpai ḏisai ḏūr. Some sing that He seems so very far away.
ਗਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਾਦਰਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥ Gāvai ko vekẖai hāḏrā haḏūr. Some sing that He watches over us, face to face, ever-present.
ਕਥਨਾ ਕਥੀ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤੋਟਿ ॥ Kathnā kathī na āvai ṯot. There is no shortage of those who preach and teach.
ਕਥਿ ਕਥਿ ਕਥੀ ਕੋਟੀ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੋਟਿ ॥ Kath kath kathī kotī kot kot. Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories.
ਦੇਦਾ ਦੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ Ḏeḏā ḏe laiḏe thak pāhi. The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving.
ਜੁਗਾ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਖਾਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ Jugā juganṯar kẖāhī kẖāhi. Throughout the ages, consumers consume.
ਹੁਕਮੀ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ਰਾਹੁ ॥ Hukmī hukam cẖalāe rāhu. The Commander, by His Command, leads us to walk on the Path.
ਨਾਨਕ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥੩॥ Nānak vigsai veparvāhu. O Nanak, He blossoms forth, Carefree and Untroubled.
— INSIGHT — This Mantra describes the endless and countless attributes of that Nirgun, invisible, invincible yet omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient creator of all of us – His power, His knowledge, His attributes, His gifts, blessings, are bountiful beyond description – He cannot be sung and described by anyone – He is the creator – He creates and destroys too and then restores life again. He is far, far away but so near. He is the sustainer and giver of everything and we get weary of receiving. Everything is happening and working according to His Hukam/Order and Will. He – the Supreme Almighty who is the Creator of the whole Creation yet He, who is detached and beyond any bondage of attachment, rejoices at His Creation. And its part of all us.

Todee, Fifth Mehl: My foolish heart is in the grip of pride. By the Will of my Lord God, Maya, like a witch, has swallowed my soul. ||Pause|| More and more, he continually yearns for more; but unless he is destined to receive, how can he obtain it? He is entangled in wealth, bestowed by the Lord God; the unfortunate one attaches himself to the fire of desires. ||1|| Listen, O mind, to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all your sins shall be totally washed away. One who is destined to receive from the Lord, O servant Nanak, shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||2||19||
मुर्ख दिल अहंकार में पागल हुआ रहता है। इस हृदये को महाराज (प्रभु) की माया ने मछली की तरह मोह में फंसा रखा है (जैसे मछली की कांटे में)॥रहाउ॥ (मोह में फंसा हुआ हिरदा) सदा बहुत बहुत (माया) मांगता रहता है, पर भाग्य के बिना कहाँ से प्राप्त करे? महाराज का (दिया हुआ) यह सरीर है, इसी के साथ (मुर्ख जीव) मोह करता रहता है। अभागा मनुख (अपने मन को तृष्णा की) अग्नि के साथ जोड़े रखता है॥१॥ हे मन! सारे साधू जनों की शिक्षा सुना कर, (इस की बरकत से) तेरे सारे पाप मिट जायेंगे। हे दास नानक! महाराज के खजाने में से जिस के भाग्य में कुछ प्राप्ति लिखी है, वह जूनों में नहीं पड़ता॥२॥२॥१९॥
