सूही महला ४ ॥ हरि हरि नामु भजिओ पुरखोतमु सभि बिनसे दालद दलघा ॥ भउ जनम मरणा मेटिओ गुर सबदी हरि असथिरु सेवि सुखि समघा ॥१॥ मेरे मन भजु राम नाम अति पिरघा ॥ मै मनु तनु अरपि धरिओ गुर आगै सिरु वेचि लीओ मुलि महघा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Soohee, Fourth Mehl: I chant and vibrate the Name of the Lord God, the Supreme Being, Har, Har; my poverty and problems have all been eradicated. The fear of birth and death has been erased, through the Word of the Guru’s Shabad; serving the Unmoving, Unchanging Lord, I am absorbed in peace. ||1|| O my mind, vibrate the Name of the most Beloved, Darling Lord. I have dedicated my mind and body, and placed them in offering before the Guru; I have sold my head to the Guru, for a very dear price. ||1||Pause||
हे भाई! जिस मनुख ने परमात्मा का नाम भजा है, हरी उत्तम पुरख को जपा है, उस के सरे दरिद्र, दलों के दल नास हो गये हैं। गुरु के शब्द में जुड़ के उस मनुख ने जनम मरण का डर भी ख़तम कर लिया है। सदा स्थिर रहने वाले परमात्मा की सेवा-भागती कर के वेह आनंद में लीं हो गया है।१। हे मेरे मन! सादे प्रमाता का अति प्यारा नाम सुमिरा कर। हे भाई! मैने अपना मन अपना सरीर भेट कर के गुरु के आगे रख दिया है। में अपना सिर मंहगे भाव बेच दिया है (मेना सिर के बदले कीमती हरी नाम ले लिया है)।१।रहाउ।

Shalok, Fourth Mehl: He has spiritual ignorance within, and his intellect is dull and dim; he does not place his faith in the True Guru. He has deceit within himself, and so he sees deception in all others; through his deceptions, he is totally ruined. The True Guru’s Will does not enter into his consciousness, and so he wanders around, pursuing his own interests. If He grants His Grace, then Nanak is absorbed into the Word of the Shabad. ||1||
(मनमुख के) हिरदय में अज्ञान है, (उस की) अकल (मति) नादान होती है और सतगुरु ऊपर उस को सिदक नहीं होता; मन में धोखा (होने के कारन संसार में भी) वेह सारा धोखा ही धोखा समझता है। (मनमुख मनुख खुद) दुःख होते हैं ( व् औरों को) दुखी करते हैं; सतगुरु का हुकम उनके मन में नहीं आता (भाव, रजा नहीं मानते) और अपनी गरज के पीछे भटकते रहते हैं; हे नानक! अगर हरी अपनी मेहर करे, तो ही वेह गुरु के शब्द में लीं होते हैं।१।

सोरठि महला ५ ॥ चरन कमल सिउ जा का मनु लीना से जन त्रिपति अघाई ॥ गुण अमोल जिसु रिदै न वसिआ ते नर त्रिसन त्रिखाई ॥१॥ हरि आराधे अरोग अनदाई ॥ जिस नो विसरै मेरा राम सनेही तिसु लाख बेदन जणु आई ॥ रहाउ ॥ जिह जन ओट गही प्रभ तेरी से सुखीए प्रभ सरणे ॥ जिह नर बिसरिआ पुरखु बिधाता ते दुखीआ महि गनणे ॥२॥ जिह गुर मानि प्रभू लिव लाई तिह महा अनंद रसु करिआ ॥ जिह प्रभू बिसारि गुर ते बेमुखाई ते नरक घोर महि परिआ ॥३॥ जितु को लाइआ तित ही लागा तैसो ही वरतारा ॥ नानक सह पकरी संतन की रिदै भए मगन चरनारा ॥४॥४॥१५॥
Those whose minds are attached to the lotus feet of the Lord – those humble beings are satisfied and fulfilled. But those, within whose hearts the priceless virtue does not abide – those men remain thirsty and unsatisfied. ||1|| Worshipping the Lord in adoration, one becomes happy, and free of disease. But one who forgets my Dear Lord – know him to be afflicted with tens of thousands of illnesses. ||Pause|| Those who hold tightly to Your Support, God, are happy in Your Sanctuary. But those humble beings who forget the Primal Lord, the Architect of Destiny, are counted among the most miserable beings.||2|| One who has faith in the Guru, and who is lovingly attached to God, enjoys the delights of supreme ecstasy. One who forgets God and forsakes the Guru, falls into the most horrible hell. ||3|| As the Lord engages someone, so he is engaged, and so does he perform. Nanak has taken to the Shelter of the Saints; his heart is absorbed in the Lord’s feet. ||4||4||15||
अर्थ :- हे भाई ! जिन मनुष्यों का मन भगवान के कमल के फूल फूलों जैसे कोमल चरणों के साथ परच जाता है, वह मनुख (माया की तरफ से) पूरे तौर पर संतोखी रहते हैं। पर जिस जिस मनुख के हृदय में परमात्मा के अमोलक गुण नहीं बसते , वह मनुख माया की त्रिशना में फसे रहते हैं।1। हे भाई ! परमात्मा का आराधन करने के साथ नरोए हो जाते हैं, आत्मिक अनंद बना रहता है। पर जिस मनुख को मेरा प्यारा भगवान भुल जाता है, उस ऊपर (इस प्रकार) जानो (जैसे) लाखों तकलीफें आ पड़ती हैं।रहाउ। हे भगवान ! जिन मनुष्यों ने तेरा सहारा लिया,वह तेरी शरण में रह के सुख मनाते हैं। पर,हे भाई ! जिन मनुष्यों को सर्व-व्यापक करतार भुल जाता है, वह मनुख दुखीयों में गिने जाते हैं।2। हे भाई ! जिन मनुष्यों ने गुरु की आज्ञा मान कर के परमात्मा में सुरति जोड़ ली, उन्हों ने बड़ा आनंद बड़ा रस मनाया। पर जो मनुख परमात्मा को भुला के गुरु की तरफ से मुँह मोड़ी रखते हैं वह भयानक नरक में पड़े रहते हैं।3। हे नानक ! (जीवों के क्या वश ?) जिस काम में परमात्मा किसी जीव को लगाता है उसे काम में ही वह लगा रहता है, हरेक जीव उसी प्रकार काम करता है। जिन मनुष्यों ने (भगवान की प्रेरणा के साथ) संत जनों का सहारा लिया है वह अंदर से भगवान के चरणों में ही मस्त रहते हैं।

सोरठि महला १ ॥ जिन्ही सतिगुरु सेविआ पिआरे तिन्ह के साथ तरे ॥ तिन्हा ठाक न पाईऐ पिआरे अम्रित रसन हरे ॥ बूडे भारे भै बिना पिआरे तारे नदरि करे ॥१॥ भी तूहै सालाहणा पिआरे भी तेरी सालाह ॥ विणु बोहिथ भै डुबीऐ पिआरे कंधी पाइ कहाह ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Sorat’h, First Mehl: Those who serve the True Guru, O Beloved, their companions are saved as well. No one blocks their way, O Beloved, and the Lord’s Ambrosial Nectar is on their tongue. Without the Fear of God, they are so heavy that they sink and drown, O Beloved; but the Lord, casting His Glance of Grace, carries them across. ||1|| I ever praise You, O Beloved, I ever sing Your Praises. Without the boat, one is drowned in the sea of fear, O Beloved; how can I reach the distant shore? ||1||Pause||
जिन लोगो ने सतगुरु का पल्ला पकड़ा है, हे सजन! उनके संगी साथी भी पार निकल जाते है। जिन की जिव्हा परमात्मा का नाम-अमृत चक्थी है उनके (जीवन सफ़र मैं विकार आदि की)रूकावट नहीं रहती। हे सजन! जो मनुख परमात्मा के डर अदब से दूर रहते हैं वेह विकारों के भार से दब जातें हैं और संसार समुन्दर मे डूब जातें hain। परन्तु जब परमात्मा मेहर की नज़र करता हैं तो उनको भी पार लगा लेता है।१। हे सज्जन-प्रभु! सदा तुझे ही सलाहना चाहिये, सदा तेरी ही सिफत-सलाह करनी चाहिये। (इस संसार-सागर से पार निकलने के लिए तेरी सिफत-सलाह जीवों के लिए जहाज है, (इस) जहाज के बिना भाव-सागर में डूब जाते हैं। (कोई भी जिव समुन्द्र का) दूसरा किनारा नहीं पा सकता।रहाउ।
